Corps à cor, Le film, 2025
Corps à cor, Le film is a video between reportage and art film, made by Mona Varichon in 2021 during her residency at the Capc as part of the Furtifs programme. Over a two-month period, the artist worked with and developed close ties with a group of apprentice horn players from the Bordeaux Conservatoire. Trained as a horn player herself, the artist went to meet the students and their teachers to discuss their relationship with the horn, a little-known instrument.
Evoking in turn their musical tastes, their relationship with the instrument, what it does to their bodies and their breath, the film traces their relationship with music, while documenting the preparation and interpretation of a performance imagined by the artist. Their collaboration culminated in a concert that they presented in the heart of the Capc nave on October 24th, 2021, freely inspired by American parades and combining pop music and the Romantic repertoire. This performance, which echoed works in the Capc, notably through the musicians' costumes and their journey through the museum, was accompanied by dancers from the HKM hip-hop troupe and the Bordeaux Conservatoire, led by choreographer Lydia Laouichi.

Vidéodrame
An artist is regularly invited to present a work, with no restrictions on duration, subject or genre. Artist and essayist Aria Dean was invited to design the architectural setting for the programme. She covered the walls and floors with red carpet, reminiscent of those typically found in cinemas, and also designed a lighting scheme for the corridor leading to the screening room.
