If Everybody had an Ocean

Brian Wilson, une exposition

// Exhibition book / 2007 / Alex Farquharson, Charlotte Laubard, Hans-Ulrich Obrist, David Toop / CAPC, Bordeaux

Focused around Brian Wilson, the charismatic Beach Boy singer, the exhibition sheds light on the links connecting pop music and the California art scene.

From the 1960s to the present day, West Coast artists have been emphasizing the seductive qualities of the visual and the colourful eccentricities which echo the sparkling undulations of surf music.  An experience in psychedelic imagery. In the original form of a record sleeve, the catalogue includes hitherto unpublished interviews which will give readers a chance to walk through the exhibition following the effervescent thinking of its British curator Alex Farquharson.
